Some rental companies have blanket rules regarding this. They will only accept a credit card in the name of the renter. Others will accept it if the card holder signs a credit card authorization form. This form gives the renter permission to use their card and stipulates how much the renter is authorized to charge on it and for what services such as the rental, extras, bond (security deposit)/excess (deductible) etc. Before you make a booking, contact us to find out if the rental company will allow you to use a credit card in the name of someone other than the renter.
There are 2 ways of getting rid of the waste water and sewage water. The most common way of releasing the water is to plug the sewage/waste water hose to the side of the campervan (staff at campervan depot will show where the hose goes into) and the other end of the hose goes into the drain, a designated hole in the ground. The second way of releasing it is to take the tank/cassette out of a drawer outside the campervan and dump this tank/cassette above the dump station hole, open a bar and all the waste water and sewage can run through the drain. To fill the tanks with fresh water you need a fresh water hose which is provided in each campervan. Plug the hose to the water tap next to the dump station and connect the hose to the right connection point at the campervan. Then turn the water on. It might take a few minutes to fill it up, you will hear and see when it's full as water will be dropping aside or at the back of the campervan. Then turn off the water, close all drawers and store the hose. In both cases you should clean the hose or the tank/cassette with clean fresh water and add toilet chemicals afterwards by either putting them into this tank or just into the toilet and flush it down. That keeps the toilet clean and fresh smelling. We recommend you carry an International Driver's Licence (also known as an International Driving Permit). It will make things run more smoothly at the rental counter and if the police pull you over, they can read your license. It is written in 10 languages and serves as an officially recognized translation of your local driving license in over 150 participating members of the United Nations. You should always have your valid local driver's license and passport to show as well. The Permit has been widely used for more than 50 years and is recognized almost anywhere in the world.
There are several places you can find the depot location details.
Before You Book: You can find the address for the pick up location by clicking on the "depot info" button on the main search page after you have entered in your search criteria.
Already Have a Booking: Depot location and pick up instructions can be found at the bottom of your confirmation email. If you have followed the link to your confirmation voucher you can also find this information by clicking the red link that says, "Important: please read pick up instructions below".
If the vehicle you requested is not available, you will not be charged as you do not have a confirmed booking. We will look for alternative vehicles for you and send you an email with any available options. If you select one of these options and it is confirmed, we will then collect payment.
When temperatures are expected to go below freezing, i.e. 32°F or 0°C, you must drain all water from
the motorhome to prevent water freeze-up. As a precaution against freezing, during expected freezing
conditions your motorhome will have been drained of all water and be winterized by the rental station
prior to departure.
You will not be able to use the water system in freezing conditions so plan in advance to purchase bottled water for drinking and minor cleaning needs. Note: You will not be able to use the bathroom during severe freeze conditions. Plan to use alternative facilities.
Some of our vehicles have live availability. If you book one of these, you will receive a confirmation automatically.
Others will require 24hrs to get back to you with availability. Once your booking is confirmed, you will be sent your confirmation email. If the booking is not available, we will search for a similar vehicle and email you with available options. Money will not be collected until you have a confirmed booking.
There are three reasons why your search does not return any results.
1. All of our rental companies in your search location have set a minimum hire period. Please adjust your dates.
2. None of our rental companies allow a one way hire.
3. The pick up date is within 24 - 48 hrs. Please contact us directly.
Please see below for age requirements...
MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENTS:
The general minimum age to hire a vehicle is 21. However, in some cases the supplier may allow an 18 year old to hire a vehicle with additional insurance cover. Please see the terms and conditions of the rental company you are interested in renting from for this information.
MAXIMUM AGE REQUIREMENTS:
Most rental companies do not have a maximum age to rent a vehicle. However each supplier has their own policies, please check the terms and conditions regarding this.
If you have a problem with your vehicle, please contact the rental company in the first instance as they will be able to assist you immediately.
The only difference will be the credit card transaction fee.
The amount of the cancellation fee depends on the rental company, please see your terms and conditions regarding this. However, the deposit is nonrefundable. If any further fees apply they will be charged at cancellation.
The most efficient way to cancel your booking is to click on the modification link in your confirmation and cancel from there. We then contact the rental company on your behalf and will advise you the amount of the cancellation fee, if applicable.
Your credit card will only be charged once you have a confirmed booking. At that time the deposit will be collected along with any excess (deductible) or cancellation covers. Each rental company has different policies.
Some companies require full payment upfront whereas others do not require final payment until you pick up the vehicle. Please see the payment details for when the final balance is due. This final balance is automatically taken from the credit card you have nominated, on your due date. No further action is required on your part.
If you chose to pay in your currency instead of the local currency of the country your rental takes place, full payment will be collected upon confirmation. By doing this you lock in the current exchange rate and avoid future exchange fluctuations.
Battery: Campervans and motorhomes in New Zealand and Australia runs on dual battery where the 1st battery is for the vehicle and the second one is for the lights and fridge inside the vehicle. When the vehicle is stationary and not plugged in to a campsite's main power, lights and fridge will run on the second battery and will normally last for a day. That secondary battery will recharge when the vehicle is running. Campervans can then be hooked up and plugged in the the main power of a campsite in able to use the other electric power points inside the vehicle and for the other appliances to work. With US and Canadian Motorhomes, the vehicles are or can be fitted with a Generator so that you would not have to plug in to a camp sites main power. The Generator allows you the freedom to camp anywhere and still have power to the vehicle. Dumping Station: The grey and black water waste must be dumped at the dumping station usually found at a camp site. You must return the vehicle with any of these waste as there will be a hectic cleaning charge fee at the end of the rental if the vehicle's water waste aren't cleaned out prior to returning the vehicle.
A generator is a portable device that creates electricity. If your motorhome has a generator or you are able to rent one, you can camp anywhere without having to connect into electricity. The generator provides the electricity you need to power the microwave, refrigerator, lights, etc.
The reason for this is that some rental companies only give us discounted rates for International travelers. Other suppliers give us rates for both domestic and International residents.
There can be penalties for returning the vehicle after the agreed drop off time. Please check the terms to read about the late return policy of the vehicle you are renting as they can vary from vehicle to vehicle.
Please check the terms of the vehicle you are thinking of renting, but as a general rule, there are no refunds for the early return of a vehicle.
No, the only person that can pick up a vehicle is the renter or any additional drivers that are named on the rental contract.
This varies between companies and in some cases an after hours surcharge may apply. Please check the terms of each company for the hours that you can pick up your vehicle.
Please check the terms to see if your desired vehicle is available for drivers under 21. If so, a different insurance policy may apply, so please read the terms and insurance information carefully.
Another way to find out is by beginning the booking process, as all insurance options are usually outlined on the booking page.
Please check the terms of the vehicle you are interested in hiring to see if any additional driver fees apply. Alternatively, you can begin the booking process and you can generally add additional drivers at this stage.
Vehicles often come with primary insurance called Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) included in the rental rate. This CDW will often have an excess which is passed onto you when you rent the vehicle, and it is your responsibility to pay this excess if damage is caused to the vehicle. This excess amount can range from $500 to $10,000.
There are instances where vehicles do not come with primary insurance included in the daily rate. For example, often customers from Canada and USA travelling within Canada and USA have to bring their own insurance to cover the rental vehicle. Please make sure you check the terms on the vehicle you are wishing to rent to see if CDW is included.
During the booking process, we offer protection on behalf of RentalCover.com and Riverside Underwriting that can protect the uninsured portion of the vehicle. This can either be an excess refund protection or collision damage protection depending on where in the world you are from and where you are renting.
Since the rates on our websites are already heavily reduced, a further discount may not be possible. However, there are a few rental companies that do offer multiple hire discounts, this is usually stated in their terms and conditions. If you have any further questions or would like to enquire about this, please let us know and we'll be more then happy to assist.
We currently do not have any relocation specials.
Some rental companies do have these specials from time to time. You would need to contact them directly as these specials come up on an as needed basis and are not displayed on our website.
